Schools and universities in Vietnam use a 10-point grading scale, with 10 being the highest and 0 being the lowest. Often, 5 is the lowest passing grade.

The Vietnam’s syllabus is very demanding, even much more intensive than that of an American Advanced Placement’s course. Therefore, an average GPA of 9.1 to 10.0 might well be classified as equivalent to 3.8 to 4.0 of an American GPA.

There are usually five levels in the classification of a Vietnamese GPA.

Grade Qualification

7.00–7.99 Good
6.50–6.99 Fair
