The School of Engineering provides undergraduate and graduate education in engineering and the engineering sciences at Vanderbilt University, a major research university located in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1879, the Vanderbilt School of Engineering is the oldest private school of engineering in the American South.[2] The school has an exceptionally high percentage of female engineers, 29%, compared to a national average of 17%.[3]
Degree programs
The School of Engineering confers bachelor of engineering degrees in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. In addition, the school awards bachelor of science degrees in computer science and engineering science.[2] In conjunction with Vanderbilt's Graduate School, the School of Engineering offers master of engineering and master of science degrees and doctorates.[1] The school awarded its first Ph.D. in 1964.
All of Vanderbilt's B.Eng. degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.[2]
