Vice Regal Salute

In the Commonwealth Realms, a Vice Regal Salute is a short piece of music played in front of a governor-general, governor or lieutenant governor as a form of salute to him/her during certain formal ceremonies.

A Vice Regal Salute is always a shortened form of a national anthem. In the United Kingdom and New Zealand, the Vice Regal Salute consists of the first six bars of God Save the Queen. In Canada it is the first six bars of God Save the Queen, followed by the first four bars and the last four bars of O Canada. [1] In Australia it is the first four bars and the last four bars of Advance Australia Fair.
